Over 2000 guests and
54 other Pearl Harbor Survivors joined this 89
years young American Hero, Bugler Allen
Bodenlos, to remember and honor those who paid
the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms
we are privileged to have as Americans.
After the
commemoration ceremony Al spent a great amount
of time volunteering, taking pictures with
admirers and signing autographs…..as he so often
does. Funny thing is, he lives in San Diego and
makes the trip to Hawaii twice a year to pay his
respects - and he does it with his own
money.
During this past
visit Al explained that there were only 55
survivors at the ceremony this year. "We’re
disappearing and I’m going to be 90 my next
birthday." Being the joker he is, he said he
used to subtract a few years when asked his age
but said, "I’m going to be 90, so who cares, I’m
90!"
Al has become a great
friend to so many over the past few years. He
has told his story to thousands of students that
have visited the Islands of Aloha. He said it
was a shame we didn’t have a band for him to
talk to and direct a song or two on this special
day! When asked if we worked with our clients to
get one here to honor him and all the others,
would he be interested? He immediately said, "I
would be honored!"
Director Emeritus John
Riggle of Kamehameha School and the Hawaii All
State Marching Band has agreed to help
coordinate the local effort and would like
enlist you and your band members to join
together in honoring Pearl Harbor Survivor
Bugler Allen Bodenlos and all military personnel
